The wood and vegetable oil industries are developing 100% biosourced agro-surfactants

ITERG's Green chemistry and physical chemistry team is working on a new research project in collaboration with Henri Cramail from LCPO (Laboratoire de Chimie des Polymères Organiques).

Entitled Sacchoil, it is led by Manon Carré.

The ambition of this project is to contribute to the cross-fertilization of two sectors, wood and vegetable oils, with the development of 100% biosourced agro-surfactants.
These
amphiphilic derivatives will be composed of a hydrophilic part of oligosaccharide type with different structural signatures (degree of polymerization, functionalization, etc.) and a hydrophobic part from lipid derivatives.
The hydrophilic part is derived from xylans.

After a phase of characterization of xylans, the study now focuses on the grafting of hydrophobic chains via the reductive animation reaction.
