ITERG at the ICBL GERLI 2026 Conference in Bordeaux: Three Research Projects on Lipids
This week, ITERG is participating in the ICBL GERLI 2026 conference in Bordeaux, an event dedicated to research advances in the field of lipids .
On this occasion, the ITERG teams will present three scientific papers on complementary topics: omega-3 nutrition and metabolism, food safety, and Green chemistry.

Bio-based estolides derived from metropolitan erucic acid
Oral Presentation – Boris Bizet, Project Manager for “ Green chemistry ” at ITERG
This presentation focuses on the synthesis of bio-based estolides from metropolitan erucic acid and an investigation of their performance.
This work is part of ITERG’s research Green chemistry, focusing on the development and characterization of bio-based molecules.
Bioavailability and Metabolism of Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Poster – Leslie Couedelo, Nutrition and Life Sciences Project Manager at ITERG
This study examines the effect of combining alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) with EPA and DHA on the bioavailability and metabolism of omega-3 fatty acids in rats.
It helps provide a better understanding of how different forms and combinations of omega-3 fatty acids affect their uptake and metabolism.
Digestion and Bioaccumulation of 3-MCPD Diesters
Poster – Leslie Couedelo, ITERG, and Frédéric Carrière, Research Director at the CNRS
This third study focuses on the in vitro digestion and bioaccumulation of 3-MCPD diesters in rats.
This study is part of the research being conducted on the fate of these compounds and builds on ITERG’s expertise in food safety and contaminant research.
Complementary Expertise in Support of Lipid Research
ITERG’s participation in the ICBL–GERLI 2026 conference highlights the diversity of its scientific expertise: nutrition , food safety, and Green chemistry.
These three studies also demonstrate the complementary nature of the approaches employed at the Institute, ranging from an understanding of lipid metabolism to the study of contaminants, and extending to the development of new bio-based molecules.
Finally, the conference provides a unique opportunity to engage with the scientific community and lipid researchers, to share the results of our research, and to strengthen scientific collaborations.
