AZIMUT Project
ITERG Strengthens Its Capabilities to Support Innovation
In order to strengthen its scientific and technical capabilities in the long term and optimize the organization of its Canéjan site, ITERG is launching the AZIMUT project, a program to develop and modernize its infrastructure.
This project aims to support the evolution of ITERG’s activities and to provide new capabilities for experimentation, technology demonstration, and pre-industrialization to benefit industries that use bio-based oils, proteins, and biomolecules.
The AZIMUT project calls for the construction of a new 1,200-square-meter building, comprising:
- 600 m² of commercial space;
- 600 m² of logistics and technical space.
This construction project will be accompanied by a reorganization of the existing technology platforms in order to improve working conditions, workflow, and the overall operation of the site.
Through the reorganization of spaces, the project will enable the creation of new R&D laboratories, the expansion of technical facilities, and the optimization of logistics, safety, quality, and traceability.
With AZIMUT, ITERG is continuing to modernize its infrastructure to ensure it has the resources needed to meet the evolving needs of researchers and industry.
These new facilities will, in particular, strengthen research and formulation capabilities and expand the technical areas dedicated to lipochemistry and refining.
In addition to increasing the available space, the project aims to streamline pathways and workflows between the various activities and to create an environment better suited to the development of projects ranging from research through to the demonstration and pre-industrialization stages.
AZIMUT aligns with the guidelines of ITERG’s 2024–2027 Objectives and Performance Agreement (COP) and helps strengthen the resources made available to industry sectors and companies.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with the facility set to open in late 2027.
The AZIMUT project is co-financed by the European Union under the ERDF 2021–2027.
